The Knights Invade France

I looked down this morning and realised I could no longer see my feet! A week of good french food (and wine) has certainly increased my waistline. This time last week we were lounging on a beach in the Vendee region (West France), the sun was out and I had a ready supply of crepes. What more could a pregnant woman ask for?
This was also Jonty's first time behind the wheel on the other side of the road. He took to it like a duck to water. We took the ferry from Portsmouth on an overcast Saturday and it was certainly blowing a gale out in the channel. Just before we arrived at Caen the sun suddenly came out and raised the spirits of this little band of invaders. With the car fully loaded with everything but the kitchen sink (travelling with kids requires serious thought when packing) we set off across France to a holiday site (run by Spring Harvest) called Le Pas opton just outside the village of le Fenouiller. It was a 5 1/2 hour journey which started around Caen, went past Rennes and then Nantes. Kids were remarkable well behaved on the way - thankfully. We managed to lose my sister and her tribe just outside Caen (don't think my brother-in-law was paying attention to the sat nav).
